Drawing

The process of drawing is for me where observation and response begin.  I draw almost every day, using humble materials to learn to see and hold the changing world.

Pandemic Drawing

Between April 2020 and April 2021, I took a walk in my Southern California neighborhood, gathered flowers, weeds, leaves, etc,, brought them home, placed them in a container and made a dated graphite drawing. I have 370 9"x 12" drawings which, for me, "document" that pandemic year. Here are a random 28; all are available for reproduction. I envisaged a perfect bound handbook, an idiosyncratic collection, a diary of the restrictive character of that year.
